HAMMOND ESSAYS/INTERVIEWS
- Hot Review: "Brecht, Love and Taylor Mac"
I write the occasional essay for Hot Review, a forum for serious critical writing on theatre, past and present, with an emphasis on contemporary theatre in New York City. This essay is about the downtown genius singer/playwright/performer Taylor Mac and the Bertold Brecht play in which a man plays a woman who disguises herself as a man in order to survive.
- Hot Review: "How to Stay a New York Playwright"
This essay, How to Stay a New York Playwright, was written in the summer of 2010, during the run of Eva the Chaste on Theatre Row. Hot Review is a forum for serious critical writing about the theatre, past and present, with an emphasis on contemporary theatre in New York City.
- Scripts & Scribes
I was interviewed in Signature Theatre Lobby in June 2012 about my life as a writer. In this ten minute video -- and the follow-up one-hour audio interview -- I discuss writing plays for both sides of the Atlantic, what's important to me about being a woman, and the difference between writing for theatre and film.
